OVI blitz brings 20 citations, 3 arrests

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning County OVI Task Force issued 20 citations and arrested three suspected impaired drivers during an OVI- enforcement blitz late Saturday and early Sunday.

The enforcement took place on campus streets of Youngstown State University from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.

With the start of the school year, the YSU Police Department wants to convey the message to students that YSU has a zero tolerance regarding anyone violating school-alcohol policies, the task force said.

The OVI reports these results:

Number of OVI arrests (over age 21): 3

Average blood-alcohol content: 0.15 (0.08 is the legal limit)

Seat-belt citations: 2

Driving under suspension: 3

Other citations issued: 11 (including underage possession, open container and disorderly conduct)

Speeding citation: 1
