Vote for the best band, cheerleaders

AKRON

Time Warner Cable is looking to crown the top high school marching band and cheerleading squad with a video contest on Local On Demand channel 411.

The contest, called “Vote With Your TWC Remote” (renamed from “Viewer’s Choice” in 2009), gives marching bands and cheerleaders the chance to win $1,000 for their school.

To compete, high school band directors or cheerleading coaches can submit a video of a performance to Time Warner Cable’s Local On Demand. The performance can be a song or routine from a game, competition or practice. Deadline for entries is Sept. 22. Beginning Oct. 1, viewers can tune to Channel 411, access the “vote with remote” category and watch the school’s video you want to vote for. Each view is a vote. The band and cheer squad with the most votes between Oct. 1-Nov. 15 will win $1,000 each and a trophy.

Mail videos to: Time Warner Cable, Attn: Local On Demand – Band/Cheer, 530 S. Main St., Suite 1751, Akron, OH 44311-1066. Rules and entry forms are available at twcneon.com.
