Insurance payments for Ohioans may be delayed because of glitch

The Ohio Department of Health says it’s investigating a computer glitch after several insurance checks for people with HIV were sent to the wrong address.

State health officials say the computer problem occurred last month and has since been fixed.

But the delay in sending out the checks means some HIV-positive Ohioans could be at risk of losing their health insurance.

Officials say the glitch may affect Ohioans who’ve lost their jobs and qualify for a government program that pays for their COBRA coverage.

The program allows Ohioans with HIV to keep their insurance, continue seeing doctors and get access to medication.
