Inhumane murderers should die

Inhumane murderers should die

I am an 80-year-old senior cit- izen who continues to hope for an explanation from anyone as to why they oppose the death penalty.

I cannot understand how anyone capable of committing an inhumane crime against another can be viewed as a human being.

To me a human being is a person with a conscience capable of loving others, having compassion, sympathy, kindness, generosity, and good will for others.

Those capable of inhumane crimes against another to me are soulless, evil, flesh-covered monsters.

I was born and raised a Catholic and taught to believe that even as God hanged on the cross, he asked his heavenly Father to forgive those who crucified him.

As a human being I lack God’s perfection, wisdom and His goodness to forgive those who harm others. I have and always will seek truth and justice for myself as well as others, and would welcome a logical explanation to help me understand where it is that those who oppose the death penalty see and find the humanity in those who commit inhumane crimes.

There are times I can’t help but wonder if only God himself has the answer to that question.

I’ve heard it said “Human beings pass judgment on other humans, but only God’s judgment is everlasting.” So be it, but being human I cannot help but wonder and question.
