Recent history: With their loss to the Batavia Muckdogs on Friday night, the Scrappers are 2-3 in their last five games and 6-4 overall in their last 10 outings. They finished 3-7 overall against their Pinckney Division counterparts this season. Mahoning Valley is now 70-69 all-time against Batavia in 139 outings.

Good month: August has been the most successful month for Mahoning Valley this season. After going 6-7 in June and 10-19 in July, they are 9-9 in 18 games to date in August with 11 games remaining; six of which are on the road.

Next: The Scrappers begin a three-game series starting tonight at State College with the Spikes They are 2-2 against the Pittsburgh Pirates’ affiliate this season, winning both times on the road while losing both home contests.

Rough night: Mahoning Valley starting pitcher Alex Kaminsky lasted just 22⁄3 innings, allowing six earned runs. He threw 31 pitches during Batavia’s five-run uprising in the third inning, facing 15 batters while throwing 60 pitches overall.
