Poland golf team full of seniors

Last season, the Poland boys golf team posted a 9-6 overall mark and a 3-5 ledger in the All-American Conference White Tier.

They also advanced to the district tournament, so coach Dave DiGiaccomo, who is entering his 10th season at the helm, is hoping they can build on that tourney success of a season ago.

“We play in a tough conference and want to build on our tournament success last season,” he said. “We lost four players to graduation but we have an excellent group returning and that is exciting.”

The four graduating seniors included Trevor Jones, Mike DiVito, Vince Netto and Zack Easterbrooke.

A total of 10 seniors dot his year’s roster.

Seniors expected to see plenty of action include Zack Fortunato, Steve Sofocleous, Billy Stanton, Drew Calcagni, Jason Malarky and Brett Horvath. Other seniors pushing for playing time are Jake Granitto, Nick Ricciardulli, Pat Donahue and Jason Volovar.

The junior class includes Sean McMahon, Ronnie Brewer, Cory Metzinger, Kyle Lessick, Jon Kostalis and Vince DeChellis.

Sophomores are Alex Vari, Dave Shoffstall, Ryan Calcagni, Joe Petrolla, Jake Nord, Vinnie Romeo and Dante Lovell. Freshmen looking to have an impact include Jason McQuown, Nick Franceschelli, Jake Miller, Paul DeLisio, Mike Ciccone, Matt Peck, Scott Marucci, Max Prizant and Zac Prizant.
