Mill Creek baseball team wins state title


Mill Creek Baseball’s 10-year-old All-Star team won the Cal Ripken State Championship tournament in Warren July 9-11.

In a rematch of the team’s opening round game, Mill Creek defeated Warren 15-1 in the finals to win the tourney title.

Cole Constance got the pitching victory and Tristan Ballard led the offense by going 3-for-3 with two doubles. Other standouts were Josh Scheetz, John Johnson and Anthony Elberty.

In the semifinals, Mill Creek beat the West Regional champion, Springfield, by a score of 13–2.

Brennen Olesh picked up the win on the mound, while Coleman Stauffer, Brennen Olesh, Jared Fabry, Constance and JC Scott all had two hits.

In the opener against Warren, Mill Creek triumphed 6–3.

Constance earned a pitching win, while Stauffer, Antonio Page, Ballard, Drew Havrilla, Fabry and Hayden Bennett all contributed with hits.
