The Experimental Aviation Association Chapter 117 is having a Discover Aviation Picnic and Corn Roast Fly-In at New Castle Municipal Airport.

The picnic will be next Saturday at the New Castle Municipal Airport from noon to 4:30 p.m. Access to the airport, in Union Township, is from U.S. Routes 422 or 224 or Pa. Route 60.

A fly-in is similar to a bike night, only for airplanes, the association explained.

The public is invited.

Admission and corn on the cob are free. For sale will be sausage sandwiches, sirloin burgers, hot dogs, desserts and beverages.

The picnic will include several exhibits.

Titan Aircraft will display its T51 æ-scale replica of the World War II P51 Mustang fighter airplane. Titan will also be displaying its light sport Tornado. The T51 and the Tornado are available as kits for home-builders.

If weather permits, two Nieuport fighter World War I Biplane Replicas will be exhibited.

For model enthusiasts, PORKS RC model club will be displaying a variety of gas and electric RC models. Professional RC pilot Ken Jennings will perform with a helicopter and airplane. An RC flight simulator will be available for the public.

Kurt of Flight Junkies will be exhibiting powered paragliders.

The association will offer a free raffle for age 8 and up for an airplane flight. The winning ticket will be drawn at 4 p.m., and the winner must be present. Vintage, home-built and certified airplanes also will be on display.

Aviation author Jane Birch of “They Flew Proud” will be having a book signing.

The rain date is Aug. 29.
