Head coach Len Gessler is in his fifth season as the Falcons’ girls golf coach and his seventh overall with the school’s golf program.

The team was 10-8 last year in dual matches and went 2-5 in Federal League play, but Gessler must replace five seniors from a season ago — four of whom were four-year performers.

Gone are four-year members Brittany Lowe, Shelby Kolat, Samandra Behanna and Jamie DeMaiolo and three-year contributor Olivia Lanterman.

One senior (also a four-year performer) dots Gessler’s roster this year, that being Leah Infante. Three juniors, Caitlyn Cominsky, Rikki Farina and Janell Verdream, comprise the team’s upperclass nucleus.

Five sophomores, including twins Amanda and Jaqui Choma, Kelly Vesey, Emily Wyant and Jenna Koval, and two freshman, Rachel Williamson and Maura Bianko round out the team roster.

“I expect us to be competitive each match and am pleased with our progression thus far,” said Gessler. “We need to be consistent, however, and that should come.

“We’ll expect our upperclassmen to lead the way, but our two freshmen could be difference-makers for us this season. They’ve been golfing competitively a little over five years now and we’ll look for them to contribute, as well as our five sophomores,” Gessler stated.
