Alumni soccer team wins championship

The Austintown Fitch soccer program recently played the boys soccer alumni tournament, and the Red team, alumni from 1980 through 2003, took the championship.

In game one, White (Fitch varsity) played Blue (alumni from 2004-2010). The White team won with a final score of 1-0. Trevor Yacovone scored the only goal of the game.

In game 2, the Red team defeated the Blue team 3-0.

Scoring for the Red were Larry Bucciarelli, Vince Marino and Dan Bestic.

In game three, the championship game, White beat Red 1-0.

Keith Knuppel scored a goal in the final two minutes of play to give the Red team the championship.

The Most Valuable Player award went to Ronn Nicolli.

Nicolli was the donor who sponsored the event, and the MVP trophy will now be called “The Nicolli MVP Trophy” in honor of its first recipient.
