POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

Aug. 14

Theft: A male shoplifter was detained at Circle K, 211 W. Liberty St.

Felonious assault: Forum Health Northside Medical Center in Youngstown notified police of a male patient who said he had been stabbed in the side at a North Main Street business. His injuries were not life-threatening, however.

Aug. 15

Menacing: A First Street woman reported her former boyfriend made threats against her.

Menacing: A West Liberty Street woman reported former tenants drove by and threatened her.

Aug. 16

Auto theft: A First Street woman reported the theft of her vehicle.

Theft: A Grandview Avenue woman found out someone was using her bank card online without consent.

Aug. 17

Arrest: Officers took custody of Donteau Naper, no information given, who was wanted by Hubbard authorities accusing him of failing to appear for a violation-of-probation hearing.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into Hubbard Coal & Supply Inc., 828 N. Main St.

Aug. 18

Criminal damaging: Tires were slashed on a vehicle in the 100 block of West Liberty Street.

Weapon: Police received a report of a convicted felon with a firearm in the 700 block of Dresden Drive. The gun was turned over to police for safekeeping.

LIBERTY

Aug. 15

Arrest: John A. Schulte, 56, of 129 Jefferson St., Youngstown, was arrested on Belmont Avenue on a burglary charge from Mahoning County.

Theft: Lawrence P. Petro, 53, of 1659 Coronado Ave., Youngstown, faced a felony count after being accused of redeeming coupons for items he never bought at Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave.

Theft: A Sunny Drive man reported the theft of an $1,100 trailer from his driveway.

Vandalism: A car in the 100 block of East Montrose Street sustained damage to its roof and hood. The estimate was $2,000.

Theft: A woman discovered a $60 video game missing from her residence in the 100 block of Laurel Street.

Assault: A Girard woman at a Goldie Road store reported that when she moved a shopping cart, an irate shopper deliberately struck her leg with it.

Arrest: Harvey Marlowe, 55, of 954 Bonnie Brae Drive, Youngstown, was arrested at the Mahoning County jail on a warrant charging him with theft.

Robbery: Authorities charged 28-year-old David L. Bell, 609 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, with robbery and possession of criminal tools after five DVDs had been stolen from Walmart. Bell fought with store personnel who tried to detain him, a report said.

Drugs: A traffic stop near Goldie Road led to the arrest of 18-year-old Ronald E. Bell, 110 Kendis Circle, Youngstown, on charges of drug abuse and driving under suspension.

Aug. 16

Theft: Officers charged 32-year-old Angela Machingo, 38 Church Hill Road, Girard, with stealing $43 worth of clothing from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road.

Arrest: Police responded to an unwanted person on Scott Street and took into custody 32-year-old George R. Tutoki, 38 Tuttle Drive, Liberty, on a warrant from Niles.

Menacing: A woman in the 1600 block of Motor Inn Drive said her former boyfriend sent text messages and made verbal threats implying she would be harmed.

Theft by deception: A Lucretia Drive woman found an $1,812 unauthorized charge on her account after trying to use her bank card and finding it had been declined.

Aug. 17

Theft/weapon: Police charged Carl T. Fisher, 29, of 234 S. Main St., Youngstown, and Melaine J. King, 24, of 555 Hazelwood Ave., Youngstown, with theft after two cameras had been stolen from Walmart. Fisher also was charged with carrying a concealed weapon when, police said, he had two razor knives.

Arrest: Youngstown police handed 48-year-old David Tribble III, 2046 Stewart Ave., Youngstown, to township authorities. Tribble was wanted on a felony warrant.

Aug. 18

Theft: A charge was pending against two women after $66 in merchandise had been stolen from Walmart. One of the woman, 48-year-old Lori A. Smith, 2181 Southeast Blvd., Salem, was arrested on two outstanding warrants.

Arrest: Officers picked up 40-year-old Aaron L. Jones, 562 Bennington Ave., Youngstown, in the 2900 block of Belmont Avenue, on a charge of failure to appear in court.

Theft: A Youngstown woman reported the theft of two of her mother’s dentures at a Colonial Drive health-care facility.

Recovered property: A license plate was found in the 1300 block of Church Hill-Hubbard Road.

Theft: A car’s rear license plate was removed in the 1400 block of Tomilu Drive.

GIRARD

Aug. 16

Breaking and entering: Someone cut a lock and entered a shed in the 900 block of Shannon Road before taking a $700 rotary tiller.

Fraud: A Trumbull Avenue woman reported getting a $2,795 check later determined to be fraudulent, along with a letter claiming she had won $90,000.

Aug. 17

Attempted assault: A man on Harry Street told police a man he detained after a shoplifting situation at a nearby store tried to bite his right forearm before fleeing on foot.

Theft: A man left Family Dollar, 900 N. State St., with a cart containing $338 worth of unpaid merchandise.

Theft: A Park Avenue man reported a check stolen.

Theft: A South Market Street man accused his former girlfriend of stealing his $43 cell phone.

Stolen property: Police charged a Girard boy, no information provided, with receiving stolen property and underage possession of alcohol after saying he had been carrying a stop sign that was missing from a nearby intersection.

Theft: Roughly 200 bolts and nuts, as well as metal turnbuckles, were stolen from Girard Machine Co. Inc., 700 Dot St.

Aug. 18

Theft: A boy on South Highland Avenue reported his $120 bicycle stolen.

Breaking and entering: A tractor and a snowblower were removed from a shed on Trumbull Avenue.

Theft: A Girard man accused his brother of taking and selling without authorization two awnings from a produce stand.

Aug. 19

Aggravated menacing: A Church Hill Road woman told officers her former boyfriend threatened to beat her up and burn down her residence and vehicle.
