BOARDMAN/WARREN

American Red Cross of the Mahoning Valley is offering safety training on Saturday at 8381 Market St., Boardman, and Aug. 28 at 661 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren.

Classes are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and include adult CPR and first aid. The cost is $50 per student. Anyone interested in first aid only can register for the afternoon session from 1 to 4 p.m. at a cost of $25.

For professionals

WARREN

Red Cross of the Mahoning Valley is offering CPR/AED for professionals, an eight-hour basic life support class for health-care workers, lifeguards, firefighters and paramedics, Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Warren Chapter office, 661 Mahoning Ave. NW.

Free health fair

STRUTHERS

Pilgrim Baptist Church, 67 McClure St. at the corner of John Street, is offering a free community outreach health fair on Saturday. Additional support is being provided by members of Holy Trinity and St. Nicholas Catholic churches.

Struthers and Youngstown communities are invited to the event, which is 9 a.m. to noon, beginning with a 1-mile walk at 9 a.m.

Speaker times and organizations are: 9:30 a.m., Sojourner House; 10:30 a.m., Youngstown State University dietitians, and 11:30 a.m., LifeBanc Organ Donation. There will be a number of vendors and face painting, and ballooning will be available from 10 a.m. to noon for children accompanied by an adult. Health screening, snacks and prize drawings will be available.

Seeking vendors

WARREN

The YWCA of Warren is seeking vendors for its first “Girls Night Out” event on Sept. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the YWCA Warren, 375 N. Park Ave. Cost to participate as a vendor is $25 plus a Chinese auction item. The YW encourages women-owned businesses to participate.

“Girls Night Out” will feature speakers including Warren YWCA Executive Director Shari Harrell and YWCA Board President Traci Miller, and information on programs and classes. This event will also be used to promote products and services for women and women-owned businesses in the area.

YOUNGSTOWN

Humility of Mary Health Partners recently received the Stairway to Heaven Award for Innovation in End of Life Care from the Quality Division of Catholic Healthcare Partners. This award is the first for the innovation of a palliative medicine program within Catholic Healthcare Partners.

Humility of Mary Health Partners was lauded for its delivery of end-of-life care by identifying the needs of the community, merging hospice and palliative care services, and significantly improving the type and timing of interventions for people in their end-of-life journey. Mary Foster is HMHP palliative medicine program director and Sister Marie Ruegg is HMHP senior vice president of mission integration.
