Monica Nicole Mike, a daughter of Joseph and Lynn Mike, and Joseph Nicholas Simko, a son of Joseph and Karen Simko, all of Poland, were married at 2 p.m. July 3 at St. Columba Cathedral and were honored at a reception that evening at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman.

The groom’s uncle, the Rev. Pat Ferraro, officiated, and concelebrants were the Rev. John Keehner and Rev. Michael Kail.

The bride’s trumpet-style white lace gown was embellished with crystals, rhinestones and pearls, and her bouquet held an antique rosary, belonging to her great-grandmother.

Kara Ludovici, the bride’s sister and honor attendant, wore a tangerine-colored gown with a white waistband. Similarly attired were the bridesmaids, Mary Sacui, the groom’s sister; Megan and Brittany Boosinger, his cousins; Melissa Taylor; Debbie Blanch, Emilie Ridge; and Erin Meister. The flower girl, Olivia Mike, the bride’s cousin, wore a white gown with tangerine sash.

The duties of best man were performed by Joseph Antonucci, and groomsmen were Richard Sacui, the groom’s brother-in-law; Joseph Mike, the bride’s brother; Vincent Ludovici, the bride’s brother-in-law; Gaby and Tony Dibo, her cousins; Vincent Antonucci; and Matthew Stiner. Ring bearer was the groom’s nephew, Michael Sacui.

Mrs. Simko received a bachelor’s degree in respiratory care from the University of Toledo and is a registered respiratory therapist for Akron Children’s Hospital, Boardman Campus. She also is a limited-service faculty member with the respiratory care program at Youngstown State University, where she is pursuing a master’s degree in higher education and administration.

Mr. Simko graduated magna cum laude from Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in communications and earned his special-education teaching credentials from Notre Dame College. He is an intervention specialist for Mahoning County Educational Service Center and is the head freshman football coach at Poland Seminary High School.

After a honeymoon on the Hawaiian islands of Kauai, Maui and Oahu, the newlyweds live in Poland.
