3 teens charged with killing prize cow

SOMERSET, Pa. (AP) — Three teens are facing a slew of charges in western Pennsylvania for allegedly killing and butchering a prize breeding cow.

Ryan Daniel Ward, Jesse Preston Lepley and Graysen Randy Anderson, all 19, were arraigned Wednesday in Somerset. Police say the men shot and butchered the pregnant cow in late June in a pasture at the Wheeler Show Cattle farm.

The men face charges including cruelty to animals and agricultural vandalism.

State police say unprofessionally cut and packaged meat was discovered in the freezer of the apartment the men were staying in. Investigators say DNA tests matched the meat in the freezer to the dead cow.

Police say the men have cooperated with the investigation.

All three men were released on unsecured bail.
