Open house for station anniversary
YOUNGSTOWN
Listener-supported WYSU-88.5 FM, Youngstown State University’s public- radio service, will have its 40th anniversary open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in Cushwa Hall, Room 3111, on the YSU campus. The free, catered event will include tours of the station, a multimedia presentation of the station’s history and a chance to meet the on-air staff.

An evening of poetry, dance, music and art
YOUNGSTOWN
First Unitarian Universalist Church, Elm and Illinois streets, just north of Youngstown State University, will present “Dreams and Other Pools of Light” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
The event will include poetry, dance, music and visual/video art.
Performers will include Jimmy McClellan, Kelly Bancroft, Nancy and Billy Colantone, Diane Bielski, Kathleen Murray, Teddy Pantelas, Jaci Clark, Tyler Clark, Josh Terlecki and Susan Callen-Miracle, who conceived, choreographed, produced and directed.
General admission is $10 ($8 for seniors and students).
Great Trail Festival shows frontier life
MALVERN
The 29th annual Great Trail Festival will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 28 and 29 and Sept. 4-6 at the Great Trail Festival Grounds, state Route 43.
The French and Indian War-era recreation includes an 18th-century marketplace, traditional Appalachian musicians, displays of furs and items needed for frontier life, kettle-cooked foods and a buffalo herd.
Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for youths age 10 to 18. Children under 10 are free.
