Stocks fall at opening as rally loses momentum

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are down moderately in early trading today as investors find little incentive to extend the previous day’s rally.

The Dow Jones industrial average is down about 60 points and all the other major indexes are also down.

There is little news to motivate investors to continue the rally that sent the Dow up 103 points Tuesday. Target Corp. missed analysts’ forecasts for its second quarter revenue. The previous day’s rally was fueled by a stream of upbeat news.

The Dow is down 62, or 0.6 percent, at 10,343. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index is down 5, or 0.5 percent, at 1,087. The Nasdaq composite index is down 9, or 0.4 percent, at 2,200.
