Charged with inciting violence

Police charged Andrei Cash, 22, of Whipple Avenue with inciting to violence, aggravated menacing, rioting, misconduct at an emergency and inducing panic in connection with an out-of-control crowd at a homicide scene.

Another man, David Cash II, 24, also of Whipple, is wanted on a warrant on the same charges, said Detective Sgt. John Rusnak. The two are brothers and are related to the shooting victim, Anthony Harrison.

The men were among a crowd of 60 to 80 people who hampered police at the scene after Harrison, 20, was shot in the back about 10:15 p.m. Aug. 6 as he walked down Tremble Avenue toward his Chambers Street home after a church festival. A friend, shot in the leg, survived.

The crowd that gathered was mostly Harrison’s distraught friends and family. They got angry that his body was left on the side of the road while police waited for the coroner. Others in the crowd demanded to know why police were not out trying to catch the killer.

Rusnak has said the crowd hampered the investigation and compromised evidence at the crime scene.

Police from six other jurisdictions came to help with crowd control, and cars were parked in an area where police later found seven shell casings.

Police also found evidence behind an abandoned building on Tremble — two handguns and two sweat shirts. The evidence was turned over to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, and police are hoping for DNA results that lead to suspects, Rusnak said.

Andrei Cash was arraigned Friday and jailed in lieu of $22,500 bond. He was to appear in Campbell Municipal Court today for a preliminary hearing.
