Lady Blue Devils participate in learning project

Providing support for sports: Members of the Western Reserve High School Lady Blue Devils Junior Varsity and Varsity softball teams happily flash their winning smiles after participating in a successful Service Learning Project during the 2010 softball season. The girls had been asked to collect or donate items for a worthy cause. Under the guidance of their coaches, Laura Amero, Stephanie Wallace, Gene Bogden and Mary McCabe, the girls collected more than 45 pieces of gently used or new sporting equipment. The usable equipment has been given to the Youngstown Police Athletic League to support its mentoring program. The program offers baseball, basketball and kickball to area children, and promotes good sportsmanship, grades and citizenship.
