Vexfest extravaganza

The Vexfest musical extravaganza begins at noon today and ends at 2 a.m. Monday. The free, outdoor music festival is on West Federal Street, downtown Youngstown, between Phelps Street and Wick Avenue. Continuous music will be presented on two outdoor stages and inside at Barley’s and Downtown 36. Altogether, 46 rock bands are scheduled to perform.

Ceremony planned

A ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for the $34.3 million Williamson College of Business Administration on the Youngstown State University campus will be at 4 p.m. today.

The building, which sits on Rayen Avenue at Phelps Street, also links the campus with the downtown Youngstown community, university officials said Strollo Architects of Youngstown and Perkins and Will of Minneapolis were the project architects, and Marous Bros. Construction of Willoughby, Ohio, was the general contractor.
