Poland softball falls 1-0

The Poland 11-12-year-old softball team fell to Burbank, Calif. 1-0 in a Little League World Series pool play game on Sunday.

Aleah Hughes (four innings) and Allyson Deemer combined on a one-hitter for Poland but Hughes surrendered the lone run in the third inning and the Bulldogs couldn't solve Burbank pitcher Jade Teetsel. Teetsel gave up five hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Burbank scored its lone run with a fielder's choice, an error and a passed ball.

Poland is 2-1 in pool play and can advance to the semifinals with a win over Canada on Monday.
