Party planned for Grace Taranto

Grace Taranto will celebrate her 102nd birthday with family and friends at a noon luncheon Sunday at Shepherd of the Valley-Howland, 4100 North River Road NE. Musical entertainment for the open event will be provided by Austi Music.

The honoree came to this country from Sicily at the age of 11 and began working at Republic Steel when she was 14. She survived cancer and, according to her granddaughter, makes the best spaghetti and meatballs in the universe.
