Things are still going along quite swimmingly at the Austintown library’s summer reading program, especially Aug. 4, as librarian Hayley McEwing hosted the “I Got Hooked On Books” event.

As many K-3 children streamed into Austintown’s activity room, McEwing began an interactive story time based on the book “Who Invited You?,” where a fishing boat is overloaded with unwelcome guests.

After the story, McEwing asked the children, “Have you ever gone fishing? Even if you haven’t, the great thing about books is that you can learn about it as much as you wish.”

After story time, the children learned about music through percussion sticks and a metronome, and then broke up to play a four corners game.

“You are musicians, storytellers, and travelers through the books you read,” said McEwing.
