Applewood swimmers finish season strong
More than 550 local swimmers competed in the 2010 Youngstown Swim League Championships at the Applewood Swim Club July 31.
Applewood swim team held its own with several swimmers placing in the top three in their respective events.
Steven Brooks, Steve Moss, Mike Henson and Michael Reardon made up the 15 to 18-year-old 200 medley relay team and took second place in 1:49.64.
Moss also came in third place in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 51.12.
Brooks took second in the 50-meter backstroke in 27.13.
Austin Price, Jac Cordon, C.J. Cordon and Will Linker earned third place in the 8 and under 100-freestyle relay in 1:33.61.
Anthony Bruno, Ryan Weitzman, Alex Price and Matt Perham took third in the 11 to 12-year-old 200-meter freestyle relay with a time of 2:28.15.
Colleen Manning came in third place for the 15 to 18-year-old 50-meter freestyle in 26.14. She placed second in the 50-meter breaststroke in 34.33.
Gaby DeAscentis took second place in the 15 to 18-year-old backstroke with a time of 30.15. She placed third in the 50-meter fly in 28.85.
Juliette Palusak placed third in the 9 to 10-year-old breaststroke with a time of 20.22.
Amelia Francisco, Madison Ricciuti, Christyna Reagan and Sarah Varga earned third place in the girls 8 and under 100-meter freestyle relay in 1:24.48.
Allison Janak, Kelsey Calpin, Kaelyn Weitzman and Maggie Monahan placed third in the 11 to 12-year-old 200-meter freestyle in 2:12.67.
Jeana McEvey, Marissa Kubala, Allie Klumpp and Mary Smrek earned third place in the 15 to 18-year-old 200-meter freestyle relay with a time of 1:56.59.
