Local doctor will host evening to help seniors get medicine

WARREN

For the third year, Dr. Farid Naffah, a local gastroenterologist, will host his annual benefit, An Evening Under the Stars.

The dining and cultural event directly funds prescription medication programs for elderly patients at Trumbull Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph Medical Center. The past events have generated nearly $40,000 at a time when an increasing number of people are in serious need of the support.

The event will take place at the Cadobaz (Culture, Arts and Dining of Bazetta) in Cortland on Aug. 28. It will begin at 5 p.m. with music, drinks and hors d’oeuvres by the lake.

In the garden will be an art exhibit featuring Victoria Yin of Boston, whose style is a blend of art deco and surrealism. Lin is 12 years old and a newly acclaimed prodigy in the world of art.

Dinner will be provided by Michael Alberini with a variety of options. Entertainment will begin with Eric Thompson, a local magician who has performed across the country. He will be followed by Dan Long, a comedian and former writer for “Saturday Night Live.”

To conclude the evening, live band music will feature Chook Alberini. Attire will be country club casual, and seating is limited. For information on tickets, call 330-539-9999.
