Weathersfield crews picking up used tires

MINERAL RIDGE
Weathersfield Township trustees reminded residents Tuesday that the township is picking up used tires from curbs all week.
The last day for pickup is Friday, and residents are asked to put their tires out Thursday night for Friday’s pickup. Anyone who missed putting tires out should call the township Friday if they still need tires to be removed.
Trustees opened bids for a new trash hauler and recycling pickup to service the entire township. There were three bidders. Tuesday was the bidding deadline.
Trustees also promoted office assistant Melissa Maiorana from part time to full time, effective Aug. 1. Her pay remains the same at $9.50 an hour, but she now will receive benefits.
Trustees also accepted a new street, Sablecreek Drive, into the township road system. The new street is located off Niles-Carver Road and is the second phase of the Sablecreek housing development, which includes St. Mary’s Drive and has between five and 10 homes on it, Trustee Chairman Steve Gerberry said
