A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

Aug. 6

Theft: A woman reported the theft of jewelry from her residence in the 400 block of South Main Street.

Domestic violence: Police charged a Hubbard girl with the crime after receiving a report of a juvenile beating up another female near North Main Street.

Menacing: A West Liberty Street woman reported her landlord has been harassing her.

Possible burglary: An employee arrived at Great Expectations Day Care, 111 Hall Ave., to find a door open, causing her to believe someone may have entered.

Aug. 7

Identity theft: A Wendemere Drive woman told police her granddaughter signed the accuser’s name without consent to obtain student loans.

Menacing: Officers got a call about a man on a motorcycle having threatened someone in the 2300 block of Belle Vista Drive.

Aug. 8

Criminal mischief: Minor damage was done to a mailbox in the 7400 block of Redwood Drive.

Aug. 9

Theft: A woman reported items stolen from her home in the 50 block of Orchard Avenue.

LIBERTY

Aug. 6

Theft: A Youngstown couple driving on Goldie Road reported seeing some of their stolen furniture at a yard sale.

Theft: A 20-year-old Youngstown man reportedly stole a six-pack of T-shirts from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, though had not been charged at the time of the report.

Breaking and entering: A chain saw, a rototiller and tools were removed from a garage in the 1400 block of Darlington Avenue that someone had entered.

Assault: A worker for Belmont Pines Hospital, 615 Church Hill Road, told authorities a 14-year-old boy became agitated and punched the employee twice in the back of the head.

Theft: A charge was pending against a 56-year-old Hubbard woman after exercise pants, bracelets and other merchandise were stolen from Walmart.

Theft by deception: A manager with Dental Products and Service Inc., 1601 Motor Inn Drive, discovered several online business transactions to order supplies were fraudulent. The loss came to more than $16,400.

Theft: Brian J. Francis, 20, of 4697 Logan Gate Road, Liberty, faced a felony charge after a $900 desktop computer was stolen from Walmart.

Aug. 7

Aggravated menacing: A Townsend Avenue woman reported a woman threatened on two occasions to shoot the accuser and another person.

Aug. 8

Arrest: After stopping a car near Fifth Avenue, officers took into custody 30-year-old Tariq A. Bowers, 3123 Hadley Drive, Liberty, on a felony warrant from Franklin County, Ohio, charging her with possession of drugs.

Counterfeit: A phony $5 bill was passed at a Belmont Avenue gas station.

Theft: A $99 bicycle was stolen in the 3000 block of Hadley Avenue.

Aug. 9

Theft: A Youngstown boy, 17, was charged with stealing from Walmart a $30 set of headphones, then released to the custody of his mother.

Theft: The Ohio State Highway Patrol handed 22-year-old Frankie L. Betancourt of Akron to township police. Betancourt was accused of failing to appear in court to face a theft count.

Theft: A woman noticed $320 missing from her pocketbook that was in a vehicle in the 1600 block of Motor Inn Drive.

Breaking and entering: To a garage in the 1300 block of West Gypsy Lane. Stolen were an air compressor, a weed trimmer and various tools, for a $525 loss.

Aug. 10

Possible burglary: Officers responded to an alarm in the 10 block of Walker Circle and found a rear window ajar as well as pry marks, though nothing appeared to be missing.

GIRARD

Aug. 8

Drugs: A traffic stop near Liberty Avenue resulted in drug-related charges against Jason L. Beach, 30, of Struthers and 23-year-old David E. House of Girard when, police said, a small bag of suspected marijuana, two suspected marijuana cigarettes and a pair of devices commonly used to smoke marijuana were found.

Menacing: A Louis Avenue woman said another woman tried to spit on the accuser and start a fight as part of a dispute between the two.

Arrest: Authorities responded to a woman who said she had been run over by a vehicle in the 300 block of South Market Street, then charged 48-year-old Kevin J. Titus of Girard with aggravated vehicular assault, driving under the influence and having an open container of alcohol. The accuser alleged that Titus, during an argument, grabbed her arm and drove his car about 10 feet, pinning her leg under a tire after she had slipped.

Aug. 9

Assault: A man on South Highland Avenue reported another male punched the accuser twice in the face.

Menacing: A Belgrade Avenue woman reported a man who she’s tried to evict from her residence threatened to harm the accuser and her fiance.

Menacing: A Steele Street woman reported a friend threatened to harm her.

Bad checks: Three checks drawn on a closed account were used to pay for services at Tom’s Automotive Inc., 935 N. State St.

Menacing: A man reportedly threatened to beat up a woman in the 600 block of Trumbull Avenue while demanding the return of personal property.

Aug. 10

Criminal mischief: A woman in the 200 block of East Second Street saw that a racial epithet had been spray-painted on her porch.
