YOUNGSTOWN

A city man who robbed two teens for their clothes will spend the next four years in prison.

Carlos A. Valentin, 19, of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery with a gun specification in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

Judge R. Scott Krichbaum sentenced him last week to three years in prison for the robberies and one year in prison for using a gun during the crime.

According to police reports, a 19-year-old man and 17-year-old juvenile came to the city’s South Side on Feb. 27 and offered a friend a ride. Valentin is believed to have gone along with the three men to a Judson Avenue location.

The victims told police that Valentin and another man who “appeared out of nowhere” pulled guns and demanded the two teens get out of the car and take off their clothing.

Police said Valentin and the other man took the clothes, cell phones and a wallet before getting in to the victims’ car and leaving the area.

The two teens ran to a nearby house, where residents provided them clothes and called police.
