FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


WEDNESDAY

Knights of Columbus, St. Jude Council 10183, of St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, Seventh Street, Columbiana, will have a steak fry at 6 p.m. at the pavilion behind the church. The menu will feature steak, fresh pork ham, corn on the cob, salad, mushrooms, garlic bread, beverages and dessert. Tickets are $20 at the door. In conjunction with the dinner there will be horseshoes, volleyball, a golf hole in the pool contest and a surprise door prize.

THURSDAY

Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave. Ext., North Lima, will have a drive-through homemade chicken dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. (or until sold out). Dinners include stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. The cost is $6. Drive up to the door and a volunteer will bring the meal to your car. Col. Louis J. Campbell VFW Post 3538, 157 Lowellville Road, Struthers, will serve spaghetti dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Meals will include meatballs, salad, bread and butter, and coffee. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 8. Carryout orders are $6.50 and will be available only until 6 p.m. Containers will be provided.

St. Michael Orthodox Church, 125 Steel St., Youngstown, will serve a homemade Chinese lunch and supper from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Thursday. This week’s meal of five-spice beef (not hot spice) and Shanghai chicken will be served Thursday through Saturday. The cost of the meal is $5. No reservations are necessary.

VFW Triangle Post 2799 Auxiliary, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield, will serve spaghetti dinners with meatballs, salad, bread and coffee or tea from 4 to 7 p.m. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12. Carryouts are $6.25.

FRIDAY

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

SATURDAY

Historic Lutheran Church of St. John, 1492 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, one block west of the Mahoning Avenue bridge and next to Fellows Riverside Garden, will serve an all-you-can-eat pulled pork dinner from 1 to 7 p.m.. The menu includes baked beans, coleslaw, beverage and desserts. There will be dinner music from 5 to 7. Sandwiches will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost for a sandwich is $5 and for dinner, $9.95. Takeouts will be available by calling 330-502-5149.

SUNDAY

St. James Episcopal Church, 7640 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, will serve St. Rocco-style cavatelli and meatball dinners from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The all-you-can eat meals include homemade bread, tossed salad, dessert and beverage. Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, 526 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown, is selling stuffed cabbages for $12 a dozen or $6 a half dozen. Preorders can be placed by calling 330-755-6340. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 11 at 525 W. Rayen Ave.

UPCOMING

The adult leaders of Boy Scout Troop 49 of Girard will sponsor an Adult Night Out Italian Dinner from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 28 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Social Hall, 343 Via Mount Carmel. Harmony Museum will have a German dinner on Aug. 21 at Stewart Hall, 218 Mercer St., Harmony, Pa. The buffet will include roast pork and sauerkraut, chicken cordon bleu, potato salad, spaetzle, fried green tomatoes, squash, cabbage, cucumber salad, applesauce and homemade desserts. Patrons can take German beverages. Iced tea, hot tea and coffee will be available. The cost is $15.
