Sen. Cafaro to be honored at Italian dinner-show

State Sen. Capri Cafaro will be honored at the 15th annual Fall Italian Dinner-Show on Oct. 7 at The Georgetown.

The event, which has honored more than 50 local people since it began, also will include Italian singer Alfio Bonnano. Tony Trolio’s Ciao Promotions is the sponsor.

Dinner music will be provided by Dominic Tocco. Master of ceremonies will be Joe Naples.

Cafaro, 32, represents Ashtabula and Trumbull counties in the Ohio Senate. In January 2009, she was sworn in as Senate minority leader of the General Assembly. She previously served as the ranking member of the Senate Finance and Financial Institutions Committee and served on the Senate Health, Human Services and Aging committee and Highways and Transportation committee. She continues to serve on the Joint Legislative Ethics Committee.

Cafaro was recognized as Legislator of the Year in 2009 by a variety of organizations, including the Ohio Speech and Hearing Governmental Affairs Coalition, the Ohio Farmer’s Union, the Ohio Corn Growers Association, Wheat Growers Association and Soybean Association.

Singer Alfio Bonanno, who goes by Alfio, was born in Sydney, Australia, to Italian-born parents. He began his career as a singer/pianist/entertainer at age 17. He sings in English, Italian and Spanish,and has released two albums.
