Former Youngstown State baseball pitchers Aaron Swenson has been promoted in the minors while Justin Thomas was called up to the majors again last week.

Swenson has been promoted within the Baltimore Orioles farm system to the Delmarva Shorebirds of the Class A South Atlantic League.

A senior on the 2010 Penguins squad, Swenson compiled a 2.13 ERA in 12.2 innings in the Gulf Coast League to earn the promotion. The right-hander allowed three earned runs on eight hits and four walks while striking out nine. He held opposing batters to a .167 average.

Thomas enjoyed another stint in the majors for the Pirates last week. The left-hander, who pitched at Youngstown State from 2003-05, appeared in four games between Aug. 1-5 for the Pirates.

Thomas did not allow a run in his four outings, which spanned 3.2 innings. Thomas was optioned to AAA Indianapolis on Aug. 6.

Eric Marzec, another senior for YSU last season, has a 2.08 ERA in 12 relief outings for the Helena Brewers of the Pioneer League.

In 17.1 innings in Helena, Marzec has struck out 23 batters and held opposing hitters to a .241 average.

Jacke Healey, a YSU infielder the past two seasons, continues to improve for the Tri-City Valley Cats of the New York-Penn League.

Over his last 10 games, Healey is batting .250 with seven runs scored, three doubles, two home runs and three RBIs.
