Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church was the setting for the July 3 wedding of Brooke Rene Lancey of Van Wert, Ohio, and Matthew Ryan Evans of Rockford, Ohio. The couple exchanged nuptial vows during a 1:30 p.m. ceremony officiated by the Rev. Charles Poore and concelebrated by the Rev. Howard Ziemba.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert P. Lancey of Poland and son of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Evans of Rockford were honored during a reception at the D.D. and Velma Davis Center in Fellows Riverside Gardens, Mill Creek Park. They left on a wedding trip to Napa Valley and Sacramento, Calif., and Scottsdale, Ariz., and live in Van Wert.
The bride graduated from Defiance College with a dual bachelor’s degree in visual arts/art education and graphic design. She is an art teacher for grades 6, 7 and 8 at Defiance Junior High School.
The groom is a metal fabricator for Crown Equipment in Celina.
The bride’s strapless champagne-colored silk taffeta mermaid-style gown was embellished with metallic embroidery and crystal beading and featured a chapel train.
Lemonade-yellow gowns were worn by Elizabeth Weddington, the matron of honor, and the bridesmaids, Taneshia Scott, Jessica Schroeder and the groom’s sister, Jamie Miller. Also serving as an honor attendant for the bride was Branden Buxman.
Sean Pontsler performed the duties of best man, and groomsmen were Rob Lancey, the bride’s brother, and Will Snyder, Mike Gamble and Justin Williams.
