Stock futures rise following European gains

NEW YORK (AP) — Stock futures are rising modestly following signs that Europe’s recovery is speeding up. However, gains were kept in check as investors look to the Federal Reserve for direction about the domestic economy.

European markets are climbing Monday after German exports reached their highest levels since late 2008, indicating the country’s economy is recovering much faster than previously thought.

Domestic economic data continues to point toward a slowdown in growth. That has added to the importance of the Fed’s meeting Tuesday.

Dow Jones industrial average futures are up 32, or 0.3 percent, at 10,645. Standard & Poor’s 500 index futures are up 3.70, or 0.3 percent, at 1,123.20, while Nasdaq 100 index futures are up 6.25, or 0.3 percent, at 1,908.75.
