‘Wheels of Thunder’

Drivers, start your engines and head to Cedar Point to see NASCAR racing legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Thursday in the Point Pavilion during the third annual “Wheels of Thunder” set Tuesday through Thursday.

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, guests can explore Michigan International Speedway’s interactive racing-themed trailer, located on the Main Midway by the Dodgem bumper cars. The trailer will have racing simulators, TVs with race videos, driver suits and helmets and much more! Guests can also check out a Dale Jr. show car on display all three days.

River music concerts

The August portion of the summer music concert series at the Riverwalk Amphitheater, Washington and East streets behind Cascade Center, will offer the chance for local musicians to perform and the opportunity to help the victims living near the Gulf Coast. Concerts will be at 5 p.m. Friday and Aug. 27. Performing Friday will be Rich Harper, Stevie S., Sleepin Dogz, Lawrence County Brass and Rodger Montgomery; and Aug. 27, Redneck Rockers, Tobacco Road, Rezistance, Chris and Nyomin & Rich.

Every $5 donation will get a free ticket toward door-prize drawings. Those making a contribution of $15 or more will receive a CD compilation of music from the bands that performed.

Fest on the Green

Brookfield

Brookfield United Methodist Church will sponsor a Summer Fest on the Green from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. There will be food, fun, games, parade, Chinese auction and bands. Visit www.brookfieldunitedmethodist-church.com for a complete schedule.

Benefit dance

NEW CASTLE, Pa.

The Lawrence County Animal Relief Fund is sponsoring a benefit dance at Cascade Park at 8 p.m. Friday. Admission is $10 and includes coffee and dessert. Music will be by the Dorals, and there will be dance contests and prizes.

McBride House tours

HUBBARD

The Hubbard Historical Society’s McBride House will be open from 2 to 5 p.m. the second Sunday of every month. Tours can be arranged at other times by calling Cecilia Cooper at 330-534-4247.
