Volant Harvest Day to celebrate bounty

VOLANT, Pa.
Volant Harvest Day, a celebration of the area’s rural farming heritage and summer’s bounty, is set for Saturday.
The day will start at 10 a.m. when the Moraine Area Tractor Cruisers arrive at Volant, and antique tractors will be displayed all day at the Volant Mill.
A Colonial Festival with colonial crafts, blacksmithing and cooking demonstrations will be going on behind the James Creek Gallery.
At 11 a.m. there will be a canning demonstration at The Kitchen Shoppe, and period costume pictures will be taken for a fee at Volant Mills from 11 a.m to 3 p.m.
From noon to 5 p.m., a corn roast will take place behind Northwest Savings Bank, and free hayrides sponsored by the Volant Community Development will depart from an area next to Volant Mill.
And the Doug Butchy Trio will perform at Special-Teas, Etc. from 1 to 3 p.m.
All-day events lasting until the 5 p.m. closing include art exhibits by Frank Owens and Lynn Parry at the Blue Heron Gallery, wool spinning at Miss Scarlet’s, a book signing by Anne M. Salina at No Common Scents/Stella Jeans, a pie sale and farm stand behind the bank, a dried-floral-wreath project by Country Blooms on the porch of Volant Mill, and Amish doughnuts and baked goods.
Volant is located on Pa. Route 208 a few miles east of New Wilmington.
