Niles SCOPE Senior Center, 14 E. State St,, Niles, will sponsor a bus trip (open to all seniors) to Asheville, N.C., for a tour of Asheville, the Biltmore Estate, the Folk Art Center, and shopping followed by stops at St. Lawrence Basilica and Harrah’s Casino in Cherokee, N.C. The cost is $345 per person/double occupancy and includes three nights at Brookstone Lodge, three breakfasts and three dinners. The registration deadline is Aug. 20. Senior Independence Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, has planned the following: Monday, Men’s and Women’s Needlecraft Club at 8:30, chair yoga at 10 and bridge at 1 p.m.; Tuesday, oil painting and Low Vision Support Group at Park Vista at 10, computer class at 10 and noon, and Digital Club at 2; Wednesday, watercolor class at 10 a.m. and 500 cards at 1 p.m.; Thursday, Watch Our Weight and Woodcarvers at 9 a.m., Diabetic workshop at 10, line dancing at 1 p.m. and beginner line dancing at 2; and Friday, board games and parties. Special events: Tuesday, Lake Milton/Sebring trip at 11 a.m. Social workers will be at the center to help with senior issues free of charge.
