Scrappers Notebook | From Eastwood Field
Major rehab: Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Mitch Talbot will begin a rehab stint with the Scrappers on Monday. Talbot will get the start for Mahoning Valley at 1:05 p.m. against the IronBirds.
All-Stars: Three Scrappers were selected to play in the New York-Penn League All-Star game on Aug. 17th. Pitchers Alex Kaminsky (4-3, 2.15 ERA) and Owen Dew (1-2, 2.53 ERA) and second baseman Dan DeGeorge (.265 BA) will play on the American League-affiliated team.
New addition: Infielder Nick Bartolone was promoted to Mahoning Valley from the Arizona League Indians. Bartolone was hitting .303 with nine RBI in 32 games in the Arizona League. He was a sixth-round draft pick in June out of Chabot College.
Great Scott! Aberdeen’s pitching coach is former Baltimore pitcher Scott McGregor. McGregor was an All-Star with the Orioles posting a 138-108 record with a 3.99 ERA from 1976-1988.
Luke Holko Day: The Scrappers are honoring Luke Holko in tonight’s 5:05 game. Holko, who was injured by a foul ball last year and is recovering, has been made an honorary member of the Scrappers. The game is also a fundraiser for the Luke Holko Fund. The flyer on the team’s website can be used to purchase a box seat ticket for $5 or a picnic and a box seat ticket for $15. A $2.50 contribution is made for every ticket purchase made using the flyer.
