Hunka achieves great feat at Mill Creek

Dave Hunka Jr. of Boardman aced the 180-yard No. 7 hole at Mill Creek using a 3-iron. He was witnessed by Jim Gaca, Bruce Baolg and John Young. Jim Ramm of Boardman aced the 120-yard No. 5 hole at Mill Creek using a 7-iron. He was witnessed by Ed and Greg Ramm.

FAST faster than Applewood

The Applewood swim team was defeated by FAST 333-167 July 21. Double Applewood winners for the meet were Ivan Bosnjak in the 25-meter freestyle and freestyle relay; Colleen Manning in the 50-meter freestyle and medley relay; Steve Moss in the 50-meter freestyle and freestyle relay; Steven Brooks in the medley and freestyle relays; Patrick Monahan in the 25-meter backstroke and freestyle relay; Gaby DeAscentis in the 50-meter backstroke and the medley relay; Mike Henson in the 50-meter backstroke and the free relay and Zachary Hillard in the 25-meter butterfly and the free relay. Applewood will participate in the Youngstown Swim League Championship today at the team’s pool.

Register for August diabetes golf benefit

Ankle and Foot Care Centers, operators of 19 local foot care offices, will host the 12th annual American Diabetes Association Golf Benefit, a four-person scramble Aug. 16, at the Lake Club in Poland. A shotgun start is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., following sign-in at 10:30. The $90 fee per golfer includes 18 holes of golf, cart, lunch, beverages on the course, awards and dinner at the newly-renovated Lake Club. Golfers can register by calling Michael Vallas at 330-629-8800. The tournament raises money for diabetes research, through Ankle and Foot Care Centers and the Tri-County Chapter of the American Diabetes Association.
