Poland woman charged with trafficking in drugs
Staff report
POLAND
The Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force arrested a 57-year-old woman with a lengthy prison record on drug-trafficking charges.
Robin Lees, task-force commander, said the force arrested Angela Ragan, who listed a North Main Street address in the village, about 12:30 p.m. Friday at her home. She is charged with two felony counts of trafficking in the prescription drug Suboxone, a painkiller.
Lees said Ragan also is known as Angela Ortiz. He said one of the trafficking charges accuses her of selling the drug within 1,000 feet of Poland North Elementary School, which would make the charge more severe.
Lees said Ragan is on probation on a child- endangering charge that originated out of Struthers Municipal Court.
The task-force commander said Ragan has a long criminal record, with 12 criminal charges originating in Mahoning County since 1994 as well as multiple crimes in the Bronx in New York.
Lees said most people in the village neighborhood were not aware they had a career criminal living among them.
Ragan was taken to the Mahoning County jail for processing. A date hasn’t been set for her arraignment in Struthers Municipal Court on the drug charges.
