Poland swimmers lose meet, win races

Despite several top performances, the Poland Swim Club lost a 330-168 decision to the Firestone Area Swim Team July 7.
Although the score wasn’t what Poland swimmers hoped for, several swimmers consistently placed in the top six in their respective age groups. Taylor Tofil, 12, was the top performer, winning all three of her events.
For the girls 8-year-old and under bracket, Lucy Graziano placed first in the 25-meter butterfly with a time of 21.57. The 100-meter freestyle relay team of Halle Sebest, Julia Eich, Mia Gajdos and Elizabeth Galla took first with a time of 1:38.85.
Anthony Formichelli finished the 25-meter breaststroke in 31.63, earning him first place for the 8-year-old and under bracket.
In the 9 to 10-year-old bracket, Noah Landry took first place in the 25-meter freestyle with a time of 20.41. Colin Barrett and Paul Graziano were part of the 100-meter medley relay that won in a time of 1:29.25. Jacob Snyder and Marik Rogenski were part of the relay team.
Barrett won the 25-meter backstroke in 21.33. Graziano was first in the 25-meter backstroke with a time of 22.54 and the 25-meter butterfly with a time of 17.81.
Gina Ungaro and Taylor Tofil each won more than one race in the 11 to 12-year-old bracket. Ungaro won the 50-meter freestyle in 30.49 and was part of the 200-meter freestyle relay that won in 2:15.47. Tofil was part of that relay team as well.
Tofil won the 50-meter backstroke in 36.07 and the 50-meter butterfly in 33.21.
Three swimmers earned more than one win for the girls 13 to 14-year-old bracket. Madeleine Leek, Madeline Evan, Zoe Sommers and Annie Boniface made up the 200-meter relay team that took first with a time of 2:11.42.
Leek won the 50-meter breaststroke in 39.78. Sommers took first in the 50-meter freestyle by finishing in 30.25. Evan won the 50-meter backstroke in 37.25.
Becca Stewart came in first place in the 50-meter backstroke in the 15 to 18-year-old division with a time of 35.75.
In the boys 15 to 18-year-old bracket, Joey Boniface won two events, including the 100-meter freestyle in 58.77 and the 50-meter backstroke in 30.73.
