Dramatized Gospel

Pastor David “Duffy” Roberts of Austintown Community Church, 242 S. Canfield-Niles Road (Route 46 S), will present a dramatized recitation of Ephesians “Paul: The Gospel’s Ambassador in Chains” at the 9:30 a.m. service Sunday.
Pastor Roberts has presented the program in churches and in private homes for Bible study groups.
He recently did a presentation at the New Vision Church in Pewaukee, Wis.
Retreat planned

Villa Maria Spirituality and Education Center will offer a conference retreat, “Traits of a Healthy Spirituality,” from Sept. 30-Oct. 7.
Director will be Sister Melannie Svoboda, former Provincial of the Sisters of Notre Dame of Chardon, Ohio. She is author of “When the Rain Speaks,” “In Steadfast Love” and other books from Twenty-Third Publications.
Participants can choose to come either for the entire seven days or for the first three days.
Cost is $465 that includes meals and overnight accommodations. Cost for weekend only is $220. Registration and deposit of $50 is required by Aug. 30.

Diocese youth choir

The Diocese of Youngstown announces the formation of a Diocesan Youth Choir open to all students of the diocese in grades three through 12.
Its purpose is to encourage interest in the music of Catholic liturgy among the youth of the diocese and enhance diocesan liturgies throughout the year.
The choir will be formed through rehearsals in October, ending with participation in a Youth Choir Festival on Nov. 6 at St. Columba Cathedral, 154 W. Wood St. The festival will begin at noon and will culminate with the Youth Choir singing for the 5:30 p.m. Mass with Bishop George V. Murry officiating.
October rehearsals in preparation for the festival and Mass will be from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Oct. 16, 23 and 30 at Holy Family Church in Poland and Oct. 9, 16 and 30 at Little Flower Church in Canton.
The cost of participation in the festival is $15 per student, which covers all music and lunch on the day of the festival.

Columbiana Baptist Church, 44420 Heck Road, will host a gospel music revival at 6:30 p.m. Friday with Glory Way Quartet of Mansfield, Copenhavers of Creston, Redemption of North Lima, John Eric Hawout of Mineral Ridge and featured artists, Beyond the Ashes, of Nashville.
At 4 p.m. Aug. 14, the event will highlight bluegrass/county Gospel music including the Walker Family of Groveport, Borrowed Time of Athens, Glorybound of Negley, Redemption and featured artists, Sons of Liberty of Stanton, Ky.
The events are free; an offering will be taken.
The women of the church will have food and beverages for sale.

St. Lucy Church, 394 Tenney Ave., will continue the Italian tradition of celebrating the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with street procession after the 9:30 a.m. Mass on Aug. 15.
The procession will be followed by benediction then a luncheon in the Palermo Center.

Partnership formed

Grove City Alliance Church is planning to expand to meet the needs of its growing ministry.
The church, which has served the community and two nearby colleges since the 1930s, averages about 1,000 people at worship each week.
Cogun and Mantel Teter Architects will team up with the church to devise an entire site plan. Cogun partners with independent architectural firms to design and build church facilities. Cogun manages the process, from pre-design to post-construction services.
