The crowd at Poland’s Yellow Creek Theatre was ‘All Shook Up’ July 23 by a live performance of Elvis Presley tribute artist Jim Penney.

The theatre partnered with the Mahoning Valley Olde Car Club to raise money for Brett Wilcox of Austintown, who is battling leukemia.

The outdoor movie venue was the backdrop for Elvis’ performance. His repertoire included “Whole Lotta Shaking Going On,” “Burning Love,” “Are You Lonesome Tonight” and he even threw in some blues songs and “Proud Mary.”

Elvis encouraged the crowd to sing along, and chose a few lucky ladies from the audience to which he sang and danced with.

Prior to Elvis’ show, the Mahoning Valley Olde Car Club held a Classic Car Night, displaying vintage cars. The club sold refreshments to help raise funds for Wilcox and Yellow Creek Theatre donated its portion of the 50/50 raffle held at the event.

“The club board chooses three children a year to help and we hold fundraisers to help the families, including the one tonight with all proceeds going to the Wilcox family,” said Elmer Lydic, president of the Mahoning Valley Olde Car Club.

The movie for the night was Viva Las Vegas, starring, of course, Elvis Presley and Ann Margaret.

The Yellow Creek Theatre screens free outdoor movies every Friday on the Route 224 bridge wall behind the Poland library.
