Accident closes center

Lee Eye Center was closed Thursday after the building’s concrete canopy was pulled down by a U-Haul truck.
Ryan M. Lukz, 20, of Girard, who was driving the truck, pulled into the Market Street business about 5:45 Thursday to turn around, according to an accident report.
Boardman Fire Capt. Brian Barber said that when Lukz pulled into the parking lot, he attempted to drive under the overhang but caught the top of the truck on it. “He hit the edge of the canopy and knocked it off its concrete pilings onto the ground,” Barber said.
He said the building was evacuated and closed, and the fire department turned off the canopy’s electricity for safety reasons.
Lukz was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center campus in Boardman.
