A man who’s accused of trying to force his children to smoke marijuana is jailed after his case was bound over to the Lawrence County Common Cleas Court.
David Stewart, 44, of Cliff Street, Union Township,
appeared for his preliminary hearing in the county Central Court on Thursday. The judge found probable cause to send his case to the higher court.
Union Township Police Chief Joseph Lombardo said a relative reported July 27 that Stewart’s children, a 14-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl, said he forced marijuana on the girl and tried to force it on the boy. The boy told police he did not participate.
Lombardo said there were several episodes of the abuse over the past several months.
Lombardo said Stewart also threatened to kill the children after the boy went to the county Children and Youth Services offices to
report what was happening.
