Storms leave thousands without power in Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Thousands of Ohio customers have no power a day after powerful storms that blew down semi trucks, barns and a wall, killing three people.

As of late this morning, there was no electricity to at least 35,000 Ohio homes and businesses, mostly served by American Electric Power in central and eastern Ohio.

The company says Wednesday’s winds up to 70 mph and lightning damaged power lines and distribution and transmission facilities.

AEP says it may take until the weekend to get service restored to everyone.

The storms flattened three barns at an egg farm in central Ohio that’s the state’s largest, killing two workers. Another man died when winds knocked down a wall at a construction site in northwest Ohio. Three semis were blown onto their sides.
