POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Girard and Liberty:
HUBBARD
July 30
Attempted burglary: A girl in the 100 block of Moore Street reported hearing someone trying to enter her residence through a kitchen window. A screen had been removed from a window, police said.
Criminal damaging: A man at a West Liberty Street restaurant reported damage to his vehicle.
Menacing: A Stewart Avenue man said another male threatened to beat up the accuser.
Theft: A Hubbard man reported having loaned his lawn mower to another man who refused to return it.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered a storage locker in the 500 block of West Liberty Street.
July 31
Theft: A Fifth Avenue woman reported her son’s bicycle missing.
Fraud: A Stewart Avenue man found out someone in Germany had used the accuser’s debit card to make an unauthorized $37 purchase.
Aug. 1
Harassment: A Youngstown-Hubbard Road man reported receiving such text messages.
Arrest: David MacKenzie, no information given, surrendered on warrants from Liberty and Hubbard accusing him of failing to appear for a violation-of-probation hearing related to charges of theft and driving without a license.
Aug. 2
Counterfeit: A township man told police he received a fake $20 bill from a local bank.
GIRARD
Aug. 1
Criminal mischief: A Squaw Creek Drive man found several street signs and posts in his yard, as well as damage to his vehicle and front door.
Aug. 2
Theft: A woman reported $570 missing from her Dearborn Avenue home.
Theft: A man discovered $40 missing from his Church Hill Road apartment.
Menacing: A Patricia Drive woman reported getting a call from someone threatening to harm her and damage her apartment.
Aug. 3
Menacing: An East Wilson Avenue man reported a neighbor threatened to poison his dogs as part of a dispute that began when the accuser added a fence.
Theft/damage: A coin box was missing from a Trumbull Avenue car wash, and another had been disabled and damaged.
LIBERTY
July 30
Breaking and entering: Someone kicked in a rear window, then broke into The Lube Stop, 2915 Belmont Ave., before taking various tools, motor oil, fuel-injector cleaner and other items, for a $540 loss.
Criminal damaging: A key was used to damage the finish to a vehicle in the 500 block of Gypsy Lane. Also, three of its tires were flattened.
Assault: A woman reported a man in the 500 block of Gypsy Lane spit on her as she tried to retrieve personal property from him.
Burglary: Occurred in the 3700 block of Oakland Street through a rear door. A purse was stolen.
Theft: A 21-year-old Warren man was detained after being accused of stealing $12 worth of candy from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road.
Theft/damage: A mailbox was removed from a residence in the 5300 block of Sampson Drive. In addition, landscaping was damaged.
Criminal damaging: Someone tossed apples and broke a window to a doctor’s office in the 500 block of Gypsy Lane.
Theft: A $2,500 dune buggy was stolen from a home in the 50 block of Warner Road.
Theft: An employee of National College, 3487 Belmont Ave., told police 88 books had been stolen from the library over a two-month period.
Misuse of a credit card: A Girard man found that 16 unauthorized charges totaling $801 had been made to his stolen debit card from various Liberty businesses.
Arrest: Officers took custody of 56-year-old Matthew Abrams Jr., 16 Blackburn St., Campbell, who was at the Mahoning County jail. He was wanted on an outstanding warrant from the township accusing him of failing to appear in court.
July 31
Arrest: Brookfield police handed 27-year-old Mark W. Wagner, 2212 Robbins Ave., Niles, to township authorities. Wagner was wanted on a charge of failure to appear in court on a theft count.
Theft: Walmart officials detained a 35-year-old Youngstown woman they said stole $143 worth of earrings, clothing and makeup.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered a garage in the 1600 block of Tibbetts-Wick Road and removed a dryer, a lawn mower and all of a vehicle’s tires and rims, for a $1,350 loss.
Aug. 1
Theft: A $75, 20-inch bicycle was taken from a residence in the 20 block of Kris Lane.
Theft/unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Lynn Drive woman accused a friend of taking her 2002 Chevrolet Malibu without permission, as well as stealing $150, a checkbook and several credit cards.
Theft: A $50 bicycle was stolen in the 10 block of Louise Lane.
Aug. 2
Robbery: Police apprehended 21-year-old Kevin L. Streeter, 1507 Hazelwood Ave., Warren, who they said was hiding in a trash bin after soda and Nintendo game items had been stolen from Walmart. Streeter faced an aggravated-robbery charge after being accused of pushing a store employee who tried to detain him.
Arrest: The U.S. Marshals Task Force arrested Alexandria L. Daniel, 20, of 840 Palmer Ave., Youngstown, on a secret indictment by a Trumbull County grand jury, and handed her to township authorities.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered Advance Auto Parts, 3179 Belmont Ave., likely through the roof, then ransacked a safe and stole $5,000 worth of car and electronics parts. The Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation was investigating.
Aug. 3
Breaking and entering: To a garage in the 100 block of Mansell Drive, from which a self-propelled lawn mower was taken.
Theft: A Royal Arms Drive woman reported never receiving prescription medication that had been mailed to her residence, leading her to believe the package was stolen.
