Banished Ohio man to be resentenced

WADSWORTH, Ohio

A man essentially ordered to keep out of an Ohio community two years ago over repeated calls to city hall will be resentenced.

Barberton resident Jeffrey Aberegg admits calling police and other departments in nearby Wadsworth numerous times beginning in 2001, because of problems with his ex-wife and other individuals.

The city west of Akron says the calls interfered with official business, and in 2008, Aberegg was convicted of telecommunications harassment.

In an unusual sentence, the judge ordered him to stay off city property for five years. Wadsworth’s law director says that included streets and sidewalks, meaning Aberegg was banished.

The Ohio public defender’s office appealed, and the city has agreed to resentencing. No date has been set.

Wash. teen finds $650 under couch cushions

SNOHOMISH, Wash.

A 16-year-old boy searching for his cell phone in the cushions of his friend’s couch found a wallet with $650 inside.

Jack Wagster and friend Nick Gorman told Nick’s mother, who bought the couch from a couple in Kirkland, Wash.

A Facebook search found the wallet’s owner — 28-year-old Alanna Jensen, who now lives in Arizona. She lost her billfold in 2005 at a party.

She told The Daily Herald of Everett she was excited and grateful to get it back. She gave the boys $25 rewards and the mother, Tracee Gorman, a $20 gift card for coffee.

Nick’s 12-year-old brother, Nathan, later searched the couch, too. He found a couple of dollars in coins, two lipsticks, a piece of candy and a dog bone.

Woman’s stripper job leads to fraud charges

DOYLESTOWN, Pa.

A Pennsylvania woman is accused of illegally accepting workers’ compensation payments while working as a stripper.

Christina Gamble, 43, waived a preliminary hearing scheduled for Tuesday and will face trial next month.

Prosecutors say the Quakertown woman claimed she hurt her back at her waitressing job and couldn’t work. A judge granted her $360 per week in benefits in October 2008.

But private investigators working for the restaurant’s insurance company say they taped her dancing at C.R. Fanny’s Gentlemen’s Club and Sports Bar in Wilson later that year.

Gamble is charged with two counts of workers’ compensation fraud and one count of theft. Her phone number is unlisted.
