Man faces drug charges

Jamar Spivey, 25, of Thornton Avenue, Youngstown, faces multiple charges after being tased by police while fleeing a traffic stop. He was arrested at 5:25 p.m. Monday at Madison and Wilson streets and charged with having a gun while legally prohibited from doing so, receiving stolen property, carrying concealed weapons, drug possession and obstructing official business.

He was arraigned Tuesday; his preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 10. A passenger in his car, Tamara Julious, 25, also of Thornton, was charged with drug possession. A police report says an officer stopped Spivey for a cracked windshield, but officers found marijuana and a loaded, stolen .40- caliber handgun under the driver’s seat. He had to go to St. Elizabeth Health Center to have the taser prongs removed.
