The American Red Cross’ CPR/AED for Professionals, an eight-hour basic life-support class for health-care workers, lifeguards, firefighters and paramedics and anyone else interested in taking an upper level course, is offered at the following times and places: Monday and Tuesday, 5:30-10 p.m., Boardman; and Aug. 21, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Warren. WellnessOne of Warren along with the Niles Mckinley Memorial Library is offering backpack safety tips on Aug. 21 at 2 p.m. WellnessOne is also teaming with Howland Giant Eagle to offer free computerized spine scans Aug. 18 from 2 to 6 p.m., 8202 E. Charity event
YOUNGSTOWN
A celebrity bartending charity event, Party on the Plaza, is at Buffalo Wild Wings in downtown Friday from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. It will benefit the Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley and chronically and terminally ill children in the Valley. Music will be provided by The Rage and Pete Shelby & Blue Collar Band.
On Saturday, the Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley and Valley Home Health Care will present a charity softball event, the Softball Game of Hope, at Eastwood Field in Niles featuring community leaders and celebrities. The charity game starts at 4 p.m.
After the charity event, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers will play the Aberdeen IronBirds at 7:05 p.m.
Tickets are $5 in advance at www.hopemv.org or $7 at the door and are good for both games. Children age 12 and under can receive a free slice of pizza, chips and a soft drink.
Orthopedic Fair
WARREN
Trumbull Memorial Hospital is offering Orthopedic Fair 2010 on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the hospital parking lot. The event is free and open to the public. There will be educational displays and physicians on hand to provide informative lectures and health-care professionals from TMH will answer questions about joint replacements and the orthopedic and spinal programs.
Free osteoporosis screenings, blood-pressure readings, body-fat analysis and other displays and vendors will be available. There will also be entertainment including the Stephen Foster Barbershop Chorus, and a Stat Medevac helicopter, an ambulance and firetruck will be on site for viewing. Hot dogs, sno cones and other treats will be provided.

Immunization clinic
GIRARD
The Girard Health Department, 100 W. Main St., is offering a well-child immunization clinic Aug. 18 at 11 a.m. There is a $5 administrative fee per child. Parents are reminded to bring a copy of the child’s immunization record. A parent or guardian must accompany children under 18. Parents must pre-register child prior to the clinic.
