Several young women, 7 to 19 years of age, from the Mahoning Valley have been selected to participate in the National 2010 Miss Junior Pre-Teen, Miss Pre-Teen, Miss Junior Teen and Miss Teen divisions in the Cleveland/Akron/Youngstown Pageant competition, which will take place Aug. 15 at Independence High School in Independence, Ohio.

Competing for the titles in various divisions from this area will be the following: Jannessa Williams of Youngstown, competing for Miss Junior Pre-Teen; Dominica Acevedo of Poland and Anissa Givens of Youngstown, for Miss Pre-Teen; Kristen Nolf of Austintown, for Miss Junior Teen; Janee Cotton of Youngstown, for Miss Teen.

During the pageant the participants will not only be competing for a title but also for a share of thousands of dollars in prizes and specialty gifts.

The young women will appear in modeling routines, which include casual and formal wear, and will be judged on personality and interviewing skills by a panel of judges.

The winner of each division will receive a five night-six day expense-paid trip to Orlando, Fla., and will represent the area at the Cities of America National Competition, where more than $60,000 in prizes and awards will be presented.

There is no cost for any of the young women to participate in the pageant competition. Community businesses, organizations and private individuals will serve as the official sponsors for those in the year’s competition.

Through sponsorships, each contestant will receive all the necessary training, rehearsals and financial support, which allow her to become a confident and well-prepared contestant.

Any business, organization or private individual who is interested in becoming a sponsor for one of the young women may contact the contestant through the Cleveland/Akron/Youngstown pageant coordinator at 800-569-2487.
