Street player shoots at woman who swerves around him

Police are investigating an attempted shooting on the city’s South Side.

A 49-year-old Youngstown woman told police she was shot at while driving on St. Louis Avenue.

Patrolmen were flagged down by the woman and her 20-year-old daughter in the Family Dollar parking lot on Market Street.

The woman was driving on St. Louis Avenue and swerved to miss a man playing basketball. As she drove past, she heard two “pops,” according to police reports.

The woman’s daughter said the man reached into a car, pulled out a handgun and fired two shots at her mother, police said.

Police have a suspect but as of Tuesday night had not made an arrest.
